The ambassadors of fun

Matt Jennings  |  Director of Operations/Owner, PGA
"Our whole deal here is to help members have fun. We are the opposite of stuffy. This is a club for anyone—everybody is welcome and belongs here. All you have to do is show up, have fun and come back as often as you can. We have something for everyone." Matt exemplifies the hands-on approach and wants to make Cherokee Valley the most fun, inviting, talked-about club in the region. His talents and perspective are broad. Not only does he have vital experience in the hospitality industry, but he holds certification through Ohio State University Turf Grass Management, and he’s also a golf pro, with a current PGA card.

Lauren Landreth  |  Associate Director
As a graduate of North Greenville University, Lauren was the Assistant Golf Pro here before beginning her new role as Associate Director in December 2017. She also completed her First Tee Level 1 training in 2018 and is our lead First Tee Coach. "Golf has been so important in my life since I was young and I love sharing that gift with the children at Cherokee Valley."

Todd Warden  |  Executive Chef
Originally from Queens, NY, Todd knows his way around a kitchen, having studied under the James Beard award-wining chef Bob Kinkead at the prestigious Kinkead's Restaurant in Washington DC. Most recently, Todd was Chef at The Cliffs at Glassy. The best thing about Todd is that he believes food is a celebration and he loves to cook for the members, friends, and families at Cherokee Valley.

Chad Taylor  |  Golf Superintendent
Chad has a simple perspective to a very demanding job: "if it's green, it’s mine." Truer words were never spoken. Essentially, anything in and around the golf course—greens, fairways, rough, landscaping, even irrigation—is Chad's responsibility. Chad knows this course well, he's been at Cherokee Valley for 18 years. Prior to that, he was at Glen Cannon in Brevard and Connastee Falls in Brevard. "I'm used to mountain courses," he says, "and even though we are in the foothills, this course looks and plays like a true mountain course—with the elevation shifts and great views."

Gary Moore  |  Head Golf Pro
Hailing from Asheville, North Carolina, Gary has played a lot of golf in the Carolinas, especially the mountains. He has been at Cherokee Valley for 10 years, and last year was named Head Golf Pro—a position he held at Country Club of Louisiana and The Patriot Golf Club in Greenwood. Gary is a people person and genuinely enjoys getting to know the members.
