When Matthew Jennings and his family purchased Cherokee Valley in 2017 the goal was to create the foremost club in Upstate South Carolina, offering premier golf, dining, swimming, hiking, biking, and limitless recreation. Today, that vision has been realized. No other club in the area comes close to offering the comprehensive range of amenities and activities as Cherokee Valley—at a price that makes it an unbeatable value for families.
Matthew Jennings has carefully selected the team at Cherokee Valley. Our job is to serve you and ensure that you are getting the most out of your club experience. Be sure to say hey when you see us.
Owners
Matthew exemplifies the hands-on approach and wants to make Cherokee Valley the most fun, inviting, talked about club in the region. His talents and perspective are broad. Not only does he have vital experience in the hospitality industry, but he has a certification from Ohio State University in Turf Management and he’s also a golf pro, holding a current PGA card. “Our whole focus here is to help our members have fun and to enjoy everything we have to offer to the fullest.”
Golf Superintendent
Chad has a simple perspective to a very demanding job: “if it’s green, it’s mine.” Truer words were never spoken. Essentially, anything in and around the golf course—greens, fairways, rough, landscaping, even irrigation—is Chad’s responsibility. Chad knows this course well, he’s been at Cherokee Valley for 20 years. Prior to that, he was at Glen Cannon in Brevard and Connastee Falls in Brevard. “I’m used to mountain courses,” he says, “and even though we are in the foothills, this course looks and plays like a true mountain course—with the elevation shifts and great views.”
Head Golf Professional
Robbie joined the team at Cherokee Valley in March 2022. He was promoted from Director of Player Development to Head Golf Professional in May 2022. Robbie comes to us from North Greenville University where he served as the Head Golf Coach for the Men's and Women's programs from 2016-2022. His program became the first in school history to win back to back conference titles in 2018-2019. Robbie and his wife Kimberly have a 3 year old son, Maverick. A member of the PGA of America, Robbie has a wealth of knowledge in teaching, course management, and tournament operations. He and his family are involved and serve at Marietta First Baptist Church.
