Five Things Golfers Will Love About the New Clubhouse, Core 450 and Golf Shop

If you’ve played Cherokee Valley over the past few months you likely noticed the construction … and progress … of the new “clubhouse.”

We use that term loosely, as the structure at the end of the parking lot won’t resemble a traditional golf clubhouse in any way, shape (or especially) form.

Housing Core 450 – our new full-service, contemporary casual dining restaurant – and future golf shop below it, the clubhouse will feature expansive views of the first, ninth and 18th holes. Architecturally, its Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired roof lines evoke memories of a classic mountain retreat.

Its opening signals several seismic changes at Cherokee Valley. Here are five things golfers will love once its open later this year.

1. The New Golf Shop

The temporary golf shop in the Event Center is, to be fair, functional. It’s gotten the job done over the past couple years. There’s just enough room to showcase our soft and hard goods. Golfers can easily check-in, grab some merch or a few extra balls and tees, and be on their merry way.

All of that changes in a big way in a few months. Cherokee Valley has never done things by the book, and owner Matt Jennings and his team have worked hard to deliver a golf shop experience that’s entertaining, efficient and inviting for golfers of all levels.

Picture, if you will, polished concrete floors, flat screen TVs and (wait for it) a craft beer refrigerator from which you can build your own six-pack. The décor will be on-brand with Core 450, music will stream through Blue Tooth speakers and the vibe will be welcoming and fun.

The 1,000-square-foot space will also house expanded apparel offerings from local companies like Southern Tide and KENTWOOL. As for clubs and gear, we’ll continue with a full suite of products from several OEMs, and custom club-fitting will be available at the practice range in the North Greenville University golf center.

Check-in will continue to be a cinch, or, you can always book a tee time online and call the golf shop to pay by credit card in advance. Once checked-in, pick-up your new GPS-equipped E-Z-Go golf cart or Finn Cycle at the staging area outside the back door.

2. The Original Course Configuration

If you’ve played the course over the past few weeks, you may have been asked to start on hole No. 3. How did that make you feel? Happy, right? What’s not to like about a mid-length par-4 that funnels tee shots back into the middle of the fairway and an approach shot to a green without much trouble lurking.

Well, once the new clubhouse and Core 450 open, No. 3 will revert to No. 1 in permanently. That means that the former opening hole (you know, the beastly two-shotter over water) will resume its previous role as No. 17, and No. 2 will convert to the 18th hole, playing into the clubhouse.

Rather than take you through all the hole-by-hole changes, here, you can check out our blog post on the  reconfigured Cherokee Valley layout. Thus far, golfer feedback has been off-the-charts. And we think starting par 4, par 3, par 5 is about as much fun as you can have on a regulation length golf course.

3. Expanded Express Menu (+Delivery!)

Operating a small kitchen has historically limited our express menu. Executive Chef Todd Warden and his culinary team have pulled it off with flying colors while also operating an amazing take-and-bake service since April.

But with the opening of Core 450, we’ll have some tasty and adventurous additions to the express menu that will be easy to consume safely and conveniently on the course. What’s more, golfers won’t have to wait 11 holes to get there.

In fact, they won’t have to wait at all. Delivery service will be available to any hole on the golf course. Golfers can simply scan a QR code on the scorecard to bring up a menu on their phone. A quick call to the golf shop and boom, a made-to-order meal will be en route.

Please check in early and often at www.Core-450.com for previews of our inaugural lunch and dinner menus.

4. The Best 19th Hole in Greenville

Golfers will end their round where they started on the far side of the new clubhouse at the cart staging area. From there, they can simply head up to Core 450 for post-round libations on the outdoor patio or enjoy a full dinner with family and friends indoors or outside.

There are some amazing 19th holes around Greenville, but so many of them are located in private clubs and available to members, only. With views of the golf course and surrounding Blue Ridge Mountain foothills, Core 450 should rank among the best in the region.

5. Membership and Game Packs

With the new clubhouse, Core-450, resort-caliber pool, P.B. Dye-designed golf course and world-class practice facility, there’s never been a better time to join Cherokee Valley.

A variety of flexible memberships are available with no initiation fees or food and beverage minimums. The Platinum Family membership is a popular choice, as it includes unlimited use of the pool in addition to full golf privileges.

Our new online store also has Game Packs for substantial savings on 10- and 20-round bundles. The Range Packs make perfect gifts or additions to Game Packs for the ultimate in convenience.
